Bartender

ROLE OVERVIEW

This is a challenging and rewarding position for a highly energetic and team-oriented individual who is interested in experiencing the fast-paced and diverse industry of tourism and hospitality. You will be part of the Guest Services Team, which delivers an exceptional visitor experience to Ottawa’s newest attraction.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Positively represents 4Wheelies through great service by:
• Enthusiastically meeting and greeting all guests
• Politely and professionally responding to questions from guests
• Confidently communicating information about the facility
• Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
• Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
• Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
• Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
• Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
• Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
• Promptly aiding in Emergency protocol
• Maintaining organizational safety standards
• Continually improving our impact on the environment and greening of operations
• Completing the daily tasks as assigned by Assistant Manager
• Performs additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
• Previous cash handling experience required
• Related cash register and computer skills is an asset
• Food Safe certification required
• Smart Serve certification required
• Prior bartending experience is required
• Restaurant or barista/café experience is an asset
• Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
• Strong communication skills
• Strong team skills with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to perform in fast paced high pressure environments;
• Active demonstration of the company’s values and mission;.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to safely bend, lift, move food products and other items (up to 50 lbs)
• Ability to safely reach and stretch, in order to prepare drinks and working with various pieces of equipment
• Availability during evenings, weekends and holidays is required

Assistant Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW

This is a challenging and rewarding position for a highly energetic and team-oriented individual who is interested in experiencing the fast-paced and industry of tourism and hospitality. You will be part of the Management Team, which supports, encourages and will lead a diverse team of staff members, while delivering an exceptional visitor experience to Ottawa’s unique entertainment facility.

Position is responsible for managing staff, Front of House and Back of House operations, in accordance with the internal control policies. Responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service at the point of entry, and throughout the various services touch points within the establishment. To assist staff in delivering brand promise to guests and through excellent communication will act as a liaison between Management and Team Members to facilitate smooth service of delivery systems.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Providing ongoing support to staff in all areas of the organization (Guest and Food Services)
• Consistently leading by example
• Provides coaching, training and ongoing development of team members
• Ensuring that all policies and procedures are adhered to by staff and guests
• Assistance as needed with scheduling and payroll
• Assistance of with inventory/stock count and ordering of supplies as needed for Point of Entry, and Guests Services
• Weekly food services inventory count and ordering
• Opening/ Closing duties as set out by the General Manager
• Provides point of sale/ database troubleshooting (refunds, voids, membership, groups, food services, rentals…)
• Monitoring and developing policies and procedures and implementing enhancements to systems to make them more accurate and efficient
• Implementing manual back up procedures when automated system is down
• Assistance with facilitating staff meetings
• Enthusiastically meeting and greeting all guests
• Politely and professionally responding to questions from guests
• Listening and reacting to guests requests for information, while confidently communicating information about the facility
• Dealing with guest concerns or complaints in an objective and diplomatic fashion, that will maintain visitor integrity while communicated in a professional and polite manner
• Promptly aiding in Emergency protocol
• Maintaining organizational safety standards
• Continually improving our impact on the environment and greening of operations
• Completing the daily tasks as assigned by General Manager
• Performs additional duties as required


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
• 3 to 5 years of related management or supervisory experience within the restaurant industry (experience in the tourism industry considered an asset)
• 3 to 5 years of cash handling experience in a supervisory or management roll required
• 2 to 5 years’ experience in bartending required
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office required
• Smart Serve and Food Safe certification required

Skills
• Superior customer service skills, with a can-do attitude
• Ability to train and motivate front line staff
• Knowledge of computerized cash and point of sale systems
• Organization and communication skills a must
• Diplomacy, objectivity and ability to work under pressure
• Job requires attention to detail, understanding of business systems and its applicability in a dynamic setting
• Ability to manage a number of tasks simultaneously
• Monitoring of procedures for effective cash control
• Job involves accuracy, precision and attention to detail for all computer input
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Ability to safely bend, lift, move products and other items (up to 45 lbs.)
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Multiple languages an asset but not required
• Ability to roller skate is an asset but not required

Working Conditions
• May have considerable time on your feet
• May involve some overtime
• Frequent exposure to noise arising from music, roller-skating and the general public
• High degree of interaction with all areas of front of house operations

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
• 1-5 years’ experience Preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes and standards.
• Ensuring the efficient use of ingredients and minimize waste.
• Assembling and plating to achieve desired presentation as per organization standards
• Conducting quality checks on food items to ensure they meet company standard
• Reading and executing orders generated from point of sales system
• Cleaning plates, washing, glasses, utensils and operating a commercial dishwasher
• Assisting in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment after use.
• Must be willing to receive Food Safe certification before commencement
• Smart Serve certification considered an asset but not required
• Prior restaurant, barista/café, hospitality and/ or tourism experience is an asset
• Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
